Our Ingredients

Manuka Honey

We use NZ Manuka Honey because of its natural healing and antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties. You can find manuka honey in all our products with honey in the product title.

Coconut Oil

We use coconut oil in pretty much all Ahhh products. It's our star ingredient! Coconut oil is a great natural moisturiser as well as having antimicrobial properties which helps protect skin from harmful bacteria.

Goats Milk

You can find goats milk in our best selling Manuka Honey and Goats milk soap. We use goats milk as it is a great moisturiser, and a great aid to soothe sensitive skin.

Mica/Colour

Our bright and fun colours are made using Mica powder. Mica is a natural occurring mineral. These can be naturally mined or created as "nature identical" in a lab. We have chosen to use the nature identical mica as a safe synthetic due to some unethical sourcing of some natural Mica. We also use iron oxides as colour which can also be natural or nature identical.

Castor oil

Castor oil is a vegetable oil pressed from castor beans. It is high in fatty acids and antioxidants and used in many beauty products.

Glycerine

Glycerine is a colourless and odourless liquid that is used in many beauty products because of its humectant properties, meaning it attracts and retains moisture. The glycerine we use is derived from coconut.

FRAGRANCE

Ahhh is well known for having amazing smelling products. To create our unique blend of scents we use a mixture of essential oils, naturally derived fragrance oils and safe synthetic fragrance oils. All the fragrance oils we use are certified phalate free.

btms-25

Behentrimonium Methosulfate / BTMS 25% is a natural, conditioning emulsifier typically used in high quality hair and skin care formulations. BTMS is naturally derived from Colza oil, and is gentle on skin and hair.

SODIUM COCO SULFATE

Sodium Coco Sulfate is our milder and safer alternative to SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). It is a suractant, and is what creates our rich lather in our shampoo bars. It is derived from coconut.

Cane Sugar

Sugar is a great natural exfoliator especially when mixed with coconut oil, which is why we use this ingredient in our sugar scrub bars. We also use sugar in our soap base recipe to help increase the creamy lather and bubbles naturally.

sodium bicarbonate

Also known as baking soda, and is our main ingredient in our bath bombs. Baking soda will leave your skin feeling silky and relaxed.

citric Acid

Citric acid is the second main ingredient in our bath bombs, and it's what makes the bath bomb fizz once mixed with the baking soda and water. Citric acid occurs naturally in citrus fruits such as lemons and limes

Lye

Also known as sodium hydroxide, and is one of the main ingredients used to create soap. When oils (coconut oil in our case) and lye mix a reaction called saponification happens and soap is made.

sunflower wax

Sunflower wax is a hard vegetable wax obtained from sunflower oil. We use sunflower wax in our solid lotions to aid firmness and stability in them.

Cetyl alcohol

Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol used as an emulsion stabiliser. We use this ingredient in our lotions and conditioner bars.

bio glitter

We use bio-glitter on our Raspberry glitter bath bomb. It is made from plant derived cellulose which naturally biodegrades. Most glitters are made from PET (microplastics)

potassium sorbate

Potassium sorbate is a safe preservative that we use in our shampoo bars. It can be naturally derived from fruits such as berries or it can be created "nature identical" in a lab.

vitamin e

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that can nourish and protect skin and can also be used as a natural preservative in skincare products.
